The MTA is an organization that represents rural broadband providers, like Paul Bunyan Communications in Legislative and Regulatory matters. In addition, the MTA runs the only telecom specific safety program. As part of that program, MTA has an Incident Response Vehicle (IRV). The concept of IRV was born out of natural disasters around the country and the need to restore communications as soon as possible. IRV can respond on short notice to any location affected by local service interruption and support the local Internet Service Provider until their facilities are operational again. IRV is staffed by volunteers from several different MTA member companies who are specially trained to provide state-of-the-art telecommunications in adverse conditions.
